quick connect plugs

When I hook my lights up to my canopy/ROPS I want to add a "quick connect" plug so if I need to take them off or fold the ROPS I can disconnect them quickly. I'm going to be running a set of back lights, forward lights and a strobe and I want to tie the wiring into one plug. I was thinking the plugs that Fisher/Western use for their wiring would be ideal. Its waterproof, easy to connect/disconnect and it costs upwards of $60 for each end! I wondered if anyone here had any other suggestions that might not be so expensive. Perhaps some pics of what you've done.

Why not use a seven pin trailer plug and receiver. Probably less than $20.00 and the wire.

trailer plug sounds good, I just bought a flat 4 set, male and female with leads for under $5. at napa, if you have 4 wires or less that would be very simple and inexpensive

Precisely what I used for the electric chute controls on my blower-- I got the flat-4 with a built-in cover, from U-Haul, I think. Works great; now I don't have to figure out what to do with the 4' of dual electric leads on the tractor when the blower's removed- they had been hard-wired from the chute motors all the way to the dashboard switches. The rubber cover keeps everything nice 'n' clean the rest of the year.

The trailer wire sounds like it might be the best fit. All my trailers are 7 pin round style so I never gave the flat connector a thought. As far as the plow connector idea goes, I bet you can't guess what I did this week!!

I would spend the extra money for a 5 or 7 pin round. They are designed to carry a lot more current. I've also used good quality extension cord connectors for the winch controller on my trucks. They have lasted for years in the salt and road crud.

These trolling motor plugs work great. They are cheap and can handle a lot of current.

They aren't cheap, but you'll only buy them once. They are becoming the connector of choice for ham radio fans.

Can these handle salt water? Thats what I need for my salt spreader hookup.

I think they would work OK. They fit together quite tightly. Add a little di-electric grease and you should be good to go. Cabelas has them or try Ebay.
