What you think happens when you CRUSH the wires in your crimp ?

Either method will work - when crimping; however, it is important to use the correct crimper and die set.

Crimping

This refers to crimping and soldering but note specifically

"NOTE: Underwriters Laboratories (UL) requires the use of a cable clamp for soldered connections to unsupported leads."

Unsupported leads tend to flex and are weakened at the junction with the solder. There is no such requirement to support crimp connectors.

weedpharma is right, a crimped connection for terminals is usually superior to a soldered connection.
25+ years ago I worked in a nuclear power plant, soldered connections were not allowed, they had to be crimped.
To form a proper crimp the entire end of the wire and the crimp barrel are basically cold welded together in a homogenous, gas tight "lump" with zero gaps.
Now that being said 99% of us don't have the correct tools to do a proper crimp.
So soldering is ok for non critical, as in not aerospace, marine or nuclear, connections.

We have a shop in town that deals in just batteries and related items. If I bought all the stuff from them I'm bettin they'd do any crimps for free.
