LS R3039
Hey everybody. I am new to the forum. I recently bought a house with 20 acres and i am going to buy a tractor. After alot of research I have decided on an LS R3039. I have two questions. Make that 3 questions.

1. What is everybody paying for a 3039 gear in the past 6 months or so?

2. How wide is a 3039 with R4 tires?

3. Is anybody out there moving/loading hay bales with a 3039? Any issues with weight or lift capacity on the FEL?

The outside edge of the rear tires is about 63 inches.

Here's one of my local area dealers Craigslist postings for a 3039 hydro.... figure about 1000 less for the shuttle shift.

http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/grq/4276754553.html

However, for the minor upgrade in price, I would recommend bumping up to the next series, either the 4041 or 4047.

As a matter of fact, I might know someone who may be considering selling their 7 month old 4047 with around 140 hrs on it. ;)

Your prices seem a bit high up north. I have already been quoted 18,800 for a gear with loaded tires or an HST for 19,800 with loaded tires. If i could justify the larger tractor i would. really the only thing i need something even this large for is to pickup round bales. otherwise i would probably be looking at a g3033.

I move both round and large square bales with mine. When it comes to lift capacity - the rear wheels come off the ground more than the loader refuses to lift. I have my tires loaded, but I am considering making a weight for the 3pt as well.

Currently I am using large square bales - 3'x3'x6'. I dont recall how much he estimated each to weigh though. I move them with the forks, as its too much PITA to switch between forks and spear with my setup.

FYI - I paid 18,500 almost exactly a year ago for mine. I would note, if you can swing the extra 2-3000... I would jump up a size. I was maxed out on budget, or I would have made the jump. (I was originally looking at the G3033, but decided the features of the R series were well worth the $$)

Mangus is right ... I was originally looking at the 3039, but luckily decided on the larger series. I'm glad I did, because the 39 would have been too small. it seems like many people on this forum agree: whichever tractor you think you want, get the next size up as the tractors shrink almost immediately after you start using them.

I may be considering upgrading to a cab ... possibly. If you're preparing to spend $19,800 on a R3039, send me a msg, you may find that you can get a whole lot more tractor for around the same price.

Robinson Equipment - LS Tractor

I bought mine at Robinson , R3038 Hydro $17,300. R4041 Hydro $22,050. I agree with TSO, if I were you I would jump up to the 4041 or 4047. Bigger front tires, bigger frame, more FEL capacity (1900# vs 2500#) they gave me Rimguard & Bucket Hooks free. I bought mine last Oct. and have 35 hrs on it so far, I love mine so far. I am GLAD I didn't go smaller, I was looking and had decided on the 3038 but after joining TBN and reading the great advice I decided to jump up to the bigger 4041. I have to say it was a very good move!!
Good luck

When I started looking I started at the g3033 and thought that was plenty. I have already talked myself into the 3038 and now the 3039. I don't think the executive committee will let me spend anymore. I was hoping to get a r3039 for about 18k. Still have to buy cutter, finish mower and hay spear.

There is a used 4047 close to me for 19,400. I am afraid it would be too big. I need something I can still do most of my mowing with.

That's way better than the quote I got today on a R3039H! I'm ashamed to even share what I was quoted because it seemed like a good deal at the time. Well a better deal the Mahindras I was looking at! Oh well here it goes: tractor and SS loader $20,500. Tractor, loader, backhoe $25,000. This was the hydrostatic model... I don't know if that's what caused the $3,500 price jump!

I have gotten about 10 different quotes for the 3039SS with FEL. The rest have ranged from 18 - 20k. I would keep shopping. You should be able to find a better price for a 3039h. I got a quote of 19,500 for the hydro model down here.

Just to point out, that the loader capacity on the R3039 (LL3103) is 2250 lbs. the G3038 (LL3101) is 1900 lbs. So the R3039's lift capacity is 250 lbs less than the R4047.

Pulled the trigger today

R3039 SS with FEL. Got the dealer down to $16,500 and that includes fluid in the rear tires. He is going o deliver for $100 extra but I thought that was good since I am about 2.5 hours from him.

Congrats, sure you're going to enjoy it. I believe that's a good deal as well. I paid $17,750 for my hyrostat nearly two years ago. Enjoy.
