Tractor
Mahindra 2615hst
So in my ongoing search for another tractor, I've come across a dealer that has a 2815hst in stock. He is willing to make me a deal on it to "get it off his lot". My only concern is I know next to nothing about this model. Seems that it has been discontinued after only 1 year of production? Any issues with this model?

The 2815 hasn't been discontinued, nor have I heard of any plans to discontinue it. Also I have not seen or heard of any issues with this model. Sounds like it could be a good buy to me. Good luck!

Thanks for the quick response. I was told by another dealer that there was going to be no 15 series model between the 2615 and 3215. That just seemed odd to me being that is quite a jump in hp. Sad that I have to question what I'm told from some of these dealers. Buying a new tractor is turning out to be harder than I thought.

Jeff, check out the Mahindra website. The 2815 is a brand new model in the 15 series lineup.Farm tractors for Ag Farmers, Hobby Farmers - Sub Compact, Compact & Full Size 2WD & 4WD Utility Tractors I've owned a 2615 HST for two years, and am totally happy with my purchase, and my dealer, Rogue Valley Farm Equipment, Central Point, Oregon.

The 2815 and 3215 are the same tractor with the exception that the 3215 has a turbo to boost the hp. the 2615 is a smaller frame.

Well, I just visited the dealer w/ the 2815hst/ML111 and it's $16,300 delivered non-negotiable. I would have liked to get it into the 15k range but does that sound like a fair price?

That strikes me as a little high.

I recall I saw a cub cadet 7532 (mechanically the same tractor as the 3215HST) last year w/ a loader they were asking $16.7k for.

I got a 3215HST with FL 111 this past November for 16,900. Hope that helps.

Sometimes, in the interest of saving money in the beginning, we might actually pay more in the end. I don't know about all of the tractors available in the 28 HP range, but if the 2815 is as capable as the 2615, and I can't imagine it wouldn't be; it is worth every penny. If you can find a tractor with the capabilities of the 2815 for less money, you might be a fool to not buy it. On the other hand, if you can't find a tractor with the same abilities, you might be crazy to not buy a Mahindra. You'll want to keep your tractor a good long time, I'd hope. What you pay now, spread over a multi-year time span, is hard to measure. However, as an example, if you found a tractor for a $1000 less than the 2815, but you really wanted the Mahindra, how much more would that $1000, work out to per month over a twenty year time span?

A thousand dollars divided by 240 months is just a little over four dollars per month. Would it be worth an extra four dollars a month, or thirteen cents a day, to own a fabulous tractor? Buying a less expensive machine in the beginning, might not be less expensive in the long run. Let your research be your guide.
