Question what Hydro oil to use???

My Ventrac Hydro oil is low and needs topped off. Ventrac calls for Amsoil 5-30 synthetic Hydro trans oil. Does it need to be this specific oil to just top off maybe with a quart?

I don't know that it HAS to be that specific oil but if that's what's in there now it would be best to top up with the same stuff.

Usually it has to meet or exceed manufactures specifications,
it will be difficult to exceed that spec.

Ventrac is a special machine and not cheap. Don't cheap out on the upkeep. I say use what they used. Of course, calling them is your best bet.

Not going to say yeah, or nay to any brand, but I would select one that meets or exceeds "API GL" standard that is specified in owners manual for you tractor....

If you want to look after it, buy the OEM spec/brand oil for a top up, OR, change the oil completely to one you already carry for your other machines, if it suits the specs. Finding an oil to suit all your machines and using it in everything may be a little more expensive, but not carrying lots of different oils is a bonus.
