Ok ya'll.. read this one quick before it gets pulled.

Was that farm exemption thread really that bad??

For once.. I think we were all in agreement.. the 'system' has problems.

I just read thru it real quick, and it looks like everyone was more or less agreeable with each other.. ( A first here on TBN!!)

Ok.. let the verbal abuse begin!

This whole site is different from any set of forums on any other site I have ever taken part in and in fact that is the main reason I am so infatuated with this place. The people here, for the most part, enjoy good stimulating conversation and don't get bent out of shape. Posts have the ability to go off topic but remain very readable without very many people getting mad becasue it did go off topic. Sometimes people will nudge one back in line, but that is OK too!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

People that like tractors are diverse in their other likes and dislikes and it brings flavor to each and every thread. I like reading the ideas people throw out whether on OR off topic.

I'm sorry I let you down if my previous post wasn't abusive enough.

HOW DARE YOU POST SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND DIG UP HARD FEELINGS FROM OLD THREADS!

Better? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

If it is the thread I am thinking of, it was not that bad in my opinion. Someone ranted on welfare or something at the end...

I would prefer threads be locked rather than vaporized...but can't really argue with the success formula that TBN follows...

Guess I would rather just see offensive posts pulled than complete threads eliminated.

We've been over this time and time again though...so back to your specific question, Soundguy. Up to the point where I last read it, that thread (if it was erased) did not seem that bad to me personally...

It wasn't blown away, but I didn't realize when I posted my 2 feeble attempts at humor above that it had been closed and I now see why Soundguy asked for explanation. We had a cap put in our hineys.

I'm slow today.

The thread is still there at: Hello money, goodbye farm exemption , it has not been deleted.

Perhaps a post-by-post summary (in flat mode) may explain the closure:

1. Texas Lawmakers may change Farm Exemption to get $400M in new taxes.
2. Owner with Wildlife Exemption getting a Tax exemption.
3. Why don't lawmakers live within budget like the rest of us?
4. We keep spending more on schools and graduate illiterate students.
5. Several anecdotes of people with multiple jobs and relation to income source.
6. Horse owners are not necessarily rich.
7. Joke about a farmer who will farm until his Vegas winnings run out.
8. Australian's opinion on tax-relief seeming anti-capitalistic.
9. Explanation to the Australian regarding US property tax burden/dilemmas.
10. Complaint that schools dumb-down to meet the lowest students.
11. Link to web-page describing Michigan plan to give 6th graders laptops.
12. Opinon regarding spending levels for students in public vs. private schools.
13. Welfare, deadbeat parents, criminals, cheese-less macaroni, and poster's inability to make it as a farmer.
14. Request for definition of Australian word "winge"
15. Moderator post that thead is closed, without deleting any posts.

This thread is within Related Topics which is to be used for: "No politics, religion, joke lists or personal/legal advice threads. Keep it clean and friendly! "

That is something that I thought that I had posted, but when I went to the post this morning after reading this one, I didn't see my name associated with any of the posts. I know there is no "freedom of speech" on the internet, but I thought that this was a civil discussion and would survive the scrutiny. Guess that it hit a raw nerve somewhere along the way. I am wondering if I made a post and it was deleted or I just forgot to finish posting it and I deleted it myself. Either way, I am certain that my comments were civil, but were along the lines of some of the other posters and might not be appreciated by some. Glad to see that dissension and obedience is alive and well on TBN. Someone asked me if I ever thought that I would make it to 5000 posts. I replied, by saying that I already made it to 5000, but the meter recorded only 4000 posts, having so many deleted.
/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Now the real question is "how many do I have to make to make it to 6000???" /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
