A Ph.D student at Columbia, speaking on behalf of students who violently seized and occupy a Columbia campus building, demanded provision of food and water. She was asked questions by a reporter:

"Why should the university be obligated to provide food to people who have taken over a building?" a reporter questioned.

"First of all, we're saying that they're obligated to provide food to students who pay for a meal plan here," the student responded.

I took early retirement 25 years ago. It was a gamble, I said if the S&P stays above 900 we'll be ok. It's over 5,000 today. Before considering each year's dividend reinvestment.

That chart illustrates my experience. Savings/investment balance exceeds the day I retired by some 50%. After putting two kids through Berkeley without debt, and buying Sis's inherited half interest in this orchard. No debt.

Better short term, yes. Up some $40k in S&P fund YTD.

But yet somehow you glossed over your chart that segregates by democrat and republican to make an underhanded point...Casual mistake I'm sure.

The S&P is more a reflection of where all the printed money by the fed has trickled down too. Our debt is 36 trillion and were adding 1 trillion every 100 days. The largest component of the GDP calculation is government expenditures. If big government was not fueling this economy with deficit spending...it would be pretty bleak as there is no business confidence right now.

I'm doing fine, but I don't sit around with catchers mitts on both hands waiting for someone to give me something.

Q- do you believe Ultrarunner's rental and property circumstances have received fair treatment over the past few years? If you defend those practices, maybe some relevant rebuttal would be better?

A selective chart pre-dating WWII and the Great Depression of the 1930's seems a stretch? Is there a chart where those same numbers are adjusted for stagflation (Carter) and current inflation? Or where the Great Depression (and following runup) are adjusted out?

Maybe the lofty thinker, Robert Reich, amps up his followers with comments like: "Have you seen his yacht?" (Class envy.) My view of a just society is where fair treatment of others does not depend on whether they have many or few material possessions. Something about a nation of laws, not men.

But, to be fair, I don't live in New York .....
