Question for the Mott Flail owners

Ok... Rather than getting lost in 700+ pages of the flail thread....
I am 100 miles from my recent purchase... I failed to measure how deep the belt guard is. Mine is missing, and I want to have the correct material with me next time I go out there to knock one out. Planning an 1/8" x ? steel strap for the depth, and then a piece of sheet metal to cap it off. Weld it up, and write that problem off... Fortunately, all the mounting tabs are still on the mower.
