At times, my M7040 makes a quick, short, "Shreaking" sound on start up after sitting for a couple of days. It also makes this same noise some times on hard "Lock to lock" turns. (Kind of like a loose power steering belt) Has any other new M series owners experianced this noise with their machines?

Mule my M9540 hasn't done this yet but give it some time. It seems like the guys who have these M Series are too busy using them to talk about them. I'm pretty tied up in the field this week but next week when I get back in the office I will check on warranties. How do you like the soft orange plastic gear shifter handle? Has the internal nylon nut stripped out on your yet?

The gear shift knob is okay. No the nut has not stripped yet. I have had to remove the seat to get rid of the poorley designed rubber grommets that Kubota used to hold the seat mount down. I noticed my seat was wobbeling for and aft and side to side. I took the seat off of the mount and found the rubber grommets all torn up. I took them out, along with the spacers and put the nuts back on tightening them all of the way down. The seat is now stable with no movement. I think the Kubota engineers tried too hard to make the seat comfortable. Realy a poor design.

My intellipanel electronic display has not worked since day one. I am waiting for winter, when I can down the tractor to have it fixed. The dealer tech checked the fuses and the wiring connections and then said, "I wish I had a wiring diagram for this tractor. It's too new yet and we have not recieved the service books on it yet."

My seat is acting the same way but I will put up with it until winter. You may need a complete instrument cluster rather than a wiring issue. First complaint I've heard of this too. You can't keep track of your run hours either that's tough! I tried to get my hands on the maintenance manual and the Georgia Boys just laughted at me. The excuse was " do you know how many new models we brought out this season " I said hire some technical writers! I just sent my new owners survey in last month listing all the weak spots. Sorry about your cluster man I just hate that for you.

Sounds like the relief, my L5030 hstc makes one shriek from the loader valve block when first starting until I vary the rpm then makes a slightly different one when turned to the locks.

Any guesses how long it takes for these types of issues to be addressed in the manufacturing process, and for the improved versions of the tractors to reach the dealer?

I can read the hour meter and the speedo, it's the lower part that displays the glow plug indicator, Etc.

So Mule it is engine wiring sensors not reporting back to the IC circuit in the cluster. With the warranty you have start raising a little "H" with the Dealer and force Kubota to replace parts until Tech support finds the answers. Your Dealer can get the "as Built " wiring diagram for your serial number from Kubota final assembly engineering put the pressure on guy..... how about PTO clutch indicator? Can you see it with turn signals? Easy Checker reports sometimes get blown off by virtual multiplexing on circuits with voltages less than 12 volt DC reporting back to the ICU. Push the issue, the Dealer will get answers we can't.

With my 7040 I noticed the sound a bit with the steering hard over to one side or the other; however to me it sounded the same as my trucks' (both of them) power steering when hard over as well. I am told this is the sound of the power steering system when put that way. Not a scientific analysis, but perhaps that gives you another idea. Other than that, very impressed with the tractor. Cut my bahia 8 acre field with a Woods 8400 finish mower in 1/2 the time of my previous Woods 7200 with a L4300. The 1153 FEL is quite nice as well. I digress....

The only other problem I had was the FEL quick disconnect plates being jigged wrong at the factory before they were welded to the tube that holds them together. I did not discover this issue until I was debrushing when a piece of debries pushed the right side handle up causing the bucket to come loose. I don't know how the factory guy ever got the bucket installed due to the missalignment, but I was unable to get it closed again, as the plates were out of alignment.

I took the tractor to the dealer and the tech cut the round tube that holds the plates in alignment at the left plate with a plazma cutter. He realigned the plates with a piece of square tubing clamped to the plates, and then rewelded the tube back on the left plate. Very sano job. Looks factory. Unless you look inside of the tube you can't tell the repair was done. I watched him perform the repair. He was baffled at the problem and how the factory ever let it leave like that!

It sounds like a relief valve making the noise, as we don't have a power steering pump with a belt to slip. Both that noise and the noise on start up concern me. This winter when my business is slow I will take it in to the dealer and let him fix it. I don't want this becomming an issue after the tractor is out of warrantee!

I know exactly the sound you're speaking of. Mine makes the same noise at start up. I've been working out of town and have not started the tractor for couple weeks. Don't know what it is but not real worried at this point.

Muleskinner did you ever figure out what that shreaking noise was that your tractor was making at start up, I have a 2007 M7040 4x4 fel and it started after the first service, would like to know it is no big deal so I can quit worring about it.

Muleskinner,

The shrieking noise is from the oil cooler bypass - it needs to be shimmed to 711 PSI - yes seven hundred eleven PSI and the noise will go away. If not, change the complet ecooler bypass and be sure it is to the same spec. Your dealer should take care of this under warranty as long as you are not in the third year.

Good luck!
