Those holes are where the pin passes through that holds the mounting bracket for the optional GPS boom positioning receiver. Really works great for assuring consistant depth when trenching....

yea gps that's the ticket . I thinks someone had a similar question and the answer or the best one, was it was put there to aid in the manufacturing process. but you could use it to mount a light
