That's what I was thinking ...Use a weak solution and maybe I won't hurt much.
The acid will not hurt rubber. If diesel fuel and acid are compatible I don't see much downside.
Or upside.
Forcing rust particles into the delivery valves and barrels of the injection pump is a bad idea.
Price a new pump and get a worst case estimate on professionally repairing that one.
The probability of you doing more harm than good are very high.
