Question about tractor battery life

If you leave the key on in your tractor:

1) will it run the battery down over-night?

2) if it does and you have to use jumper cables to crank it, will it decrease the battery life?

thanks. I just realized I left my key on in my tractor and Im now home 30 miles away from the tractor. Planning on using it tomorrow, just wondering if I should drive back down tonight, or just plan on jumping it in the morning.

When you get there take the key out and let it sit for a few minutes.
whether it starts depends on the temperature, If you need the glow plugs to start it then you might have some probems, take the cables.

1) Probably not.

2) A one time jump start isn't going to hurt anything.

Some tractors will run the hour meter if the key is left on.

It all depends on what you have on the tractor that pulls current. If you have a good battery and all that is on is a dash light, there is a good chance that it will start right up if it is diesel.

If the battery voltage falls below 10 volts it will reduce the life of the battery. If one or more cells reverses polarity the battery will have a very short life.

Ended up calling neighbor and asking him to drive over and turn off the key for me. Good neighbors are nice to have.
