Question about replacing fuel element on a Kubota B7100 HST model B7100 HST-D

I stupidly put gas in my Kubota and ran it about 45 minutes. I caught the mistake, drained the tank, removed the fuel element. I will be bleeding the lines, injector pump and injectors. The manual that came with my tractor does NOT show a spring underneath the fuel element and I did not find a spring in that location. Every thing I see when searching the internet shows a spring in that location. Do any of you who own this model kubota have any input. Any information would be appreciated. I hope I did not damage my tractor by running with gas..

What are you calling a "fuel element"?? the shut off solenoid??

If it's the spring I think it is, it's right below the filter element and pushes the filter up to make sure that the filter fits tightly around the outlet pipe of the filter assembly. The spring also provides a place for water and dirt to accumulate below the filter. Sometimes the water accumulation in the fulter will rust that spring. I guress it isn't impossible that it rusted the old one in two and someone threw it away. There's nothing special about that spring. If your new filter is long enough to cover the outlet pipe when the filter is assembled then you are OK. But generally the filter is a bit short, and the spring just makes up the difference. You can use any lightweight spring that will fit. All it has to do is be strong enough to hold the filter up into position. Any more than that isn't needed or wanted.

As for hurting it running with gasoline, it depends on how much gasoline you used and how bad it sounded while running. If you had mostly diesel and just added some gasoline..... and the motor sounded OK and didn't make weird knocking and clattering mechanical noises during that 45 minutes then you are probably OK. Drain as you plan, fill with good diesel, and start it up. Any of the serious damages that might have happened will be loud and obvious noises. Cross your fingers; you might get out of this all right.
