quarter mil

/ quarter mil #21
I sold my '89 F250 with 351 at 225,000 miles. At 215,000 miles, I did a 3500 mile trip around Calif/Or/Wa/BC/Alberta/Montana/Wy/Nv. Hauling an old 11' cabover camper.

It ran like a top, didn't use oil, and was still pretty clean looking. I got it with high miles, and put another 75,000 on it. I think it was an original Calif truck though; no rust.

That 351 was running great when I sold it. No diesel...

I think good maintenance on these newer trucks will have them lasting. To imagine, the classic 1950's and 1960's motors had a hard time with 100,000 miles. As we continue to get better and beet material sciences and manufacturing techniques, they should go longer and longer.

I think most people get bored with them now before they wear out...

Great old truck. I have a '97 F-250 crew cab myself.

A cousin of mine finally parked his F-350, with a naturally aspirated 7.3 (pre-powerstroke), after 600,000 + miles. The motor was still running, but the truck was falling apart.
