Tractor
JD2555 and a few Allis Chalmers and now one Kubota
I have two tractors, one with a single remote but it has hydraulic's on the FEL(Kubota M7040), the other has two remotes (JD2555). I want to pull a batwing mower that has 3 hoses, one from each wing and another for the rear lift cylinder. I would prefer to run the batwing off of the Kubota because it is 4wd and that is what the owner said he pulled it with. If I run it off the JD, I will have traction issues on the side of the pond. The batwing was purchased to get closer to the pond without having to drive on the ponds edge. The rear lift is required pretty much, and wing cylinders are also needed, although I could use one line for both lifts which would allow me to make up a "Y" configuration. There are also one to two adapter blocks (at the tune of about $299). I also could bite the bullet and have Kubota dealer install another pair of remotes, to the tune of about $1800.
I was wondering what grade of steel pipe I should use in case I want to build my own "Y" fitting. The actual fittings are available at Tractor Supply with pipe threads but for some reason I remember standard pipe is not rated for hydraulic pressure. Any suggestions on what type pipe will work or another way to do this?

Go to Tractor Supply and get the fittings from hydraulic section. They should have a pair of tees, a pair of male and female couplings, an extra pair of female couplings, four street elbows and six short pipe nipples.
Or you could replace the two short pipe nipples that go from the male quick connects to the tees with whatever the shortest piece of hose they have is, probably about 12 inches.

Adding a 2nd remote valve should not cost $1800.00. I would guess more like $400.00 max.

Surplus Center perhaps. looks like they offer a few tees, and various fittings for quick connects, or not.

no idea about your specific tractor. pending on the remote/s you have now. you might be able to add more valves. to the current valve stack you have.

Kubota M7040 is the tractor and the $1800 was parts and labor to install 2 more remotes so that I could run each wing separately.
Wondering if standard steel pipe fittings are rated at hydraulic pressures capability???

No they are not. Standard pipe fittings are rated for around 350 PSI and a tractor hydraulic system can be anywhere from 1800 to 3500 PSI.

Will it work? Maybe, there are many people who run standard pipe fittings in their hydraulic systems, but why risk losing a limb because the pipe fitting developed a small leak which then injected hydraulic fluid into your arm or leg?

I was pretty sure I remembered something to that effect, but wanted to confirm that I wasn't in error. Wonder where I can get them, oh wait...how about a hydraulic supply house...I know where one is!! Now getting to it might be a challenge since I work across town from them and the same hours that they are open!
Thanks, David from jax

I have a friend who brings me "parts" that fit my tractor (or just parts that are neat). A spare hydraulic pump and a complete set of remotes have wandered over this way in the last 14 years since I brought the tractor home. I just remembered the remotes...hmmm...wonder if I can add them to my existing set or since it is a complete setup, "T" the existing lines to and from the pump and build a bracket for the handles and remotes.
Shame it is a green set and not a orange set, as that would fix all my problems (or at least the current ones)

You mentioned that you have a Tractor Supply near you, Tractor Supply should carry all of those parts.

Can you post a picture of the green valve? Does your tractor have a loader valve on it? If so where is it located? It's possible that you might be able to put your valves that you have in line after your loader valve.
You cannot tee the pressure line, each valve needs to be in sequence one after the other.
