I have a couple of hydraulic hoses I had made maybe two months ago. They have been used but are like new. They are 3/4" and rather long and if I recall were over $100 each. I need them about five feet shorter. Can they be cut down and have new ends put on and be reliable or is this not advisable once fluid has been in them?

I see no reason why you couldn't do that.

Just make sure you get the right fittings for YOUR hose - there are specific types of fittings for each hose type... Steve

On account of liability, most places I have dealt with will no longer put a fitting on a hose you carry in through the door! Here in Canada, at least.

As suggested, you could use a re-usable fitting, one that you screw on and tighten with wrenches.

The hydraulic shop that I use will do it if you ask nicely but no warranty.

Thanks for the advice. I went by the shop where I had the hoses made and they shortened them and put new ends on for me.
