Putting in new hydrolic piston seal 1700

I found a cracked seal on my 3 pt lift piston and am ready to install a new one, I have it ready to go on the piston. Is there a trick to installing the seal or do I just stretch it over the piston? I am thinking some of you that have done this before might have some pointers for me. Ray

Without seeing a picture...I can only guess what it looks like, BUT I use the trick of boiling the seal in water for a few minutes to soften it before stretching them on.

It is about 3" diameter made of a vinal? or plastic has a cream color to it. Sorry no pictures, I thought warming it up might help as long as it returns to original strength and size, Ray

please refer to the other post you made about the same subject with explanation on how to.

bad seal, look at the seal orientation.

New seal install, don't have a macro shot to show you the orientation, it is same as old, use no tools, lube and slide it in, tight fit.

Just like JC-Jetro says. Heating it won't do much good unless you heat the piston too. Don't use boiling water, most of these seals are only rated for 210 degrees. The cool metal will suck the heat right out of the polyurethane anyway. Just lube it and push it on with your palms.
