put money down on tc45da

new to the tractor world as i just bought a mini farm with 30 acres. have 8-10 acres to keep finish cut. got a 2006 tz25 with bucket and 60 mid finish mower and went to local dealer to buy scraper and he had a used 2yr old tc45da non super steer with the mid 7 foot mower with rear discharge for 20k. So i got approved for the 4.9 on used and puts some money down to hold. they gave me 11k for my tz25 with 100 hours on it and the 45 has 120 hours on it. good deal and any problems with the 45. it also has hydro tranny. also got a scag zero turn for around landscape so its not the only mower. thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions steve

I really like mine! Some of the electrical systems (safety switches mainly) are a pain, but diagnosable.

I would be sure to do a search on the TC45, TC35 and TC40, as there have been a lot of discussions about them(along with potential problems).

I had no idea the 45s came with mid pto. Mine had the cover on the casting and I thought someone said there was an after market set of gears one could buy to make it play. Mid mowers are such a pain to take off and attach. I would prefer the three point version. Should work good for you though.
By the way... what is a TZ 25 ?

Its a factory mid mower, so i don't know about the mid pto. I thought they all came with them. the tz25 is a new holland 4x4. any other issues besides some switches. does a hydro stay together with 45hp. thanks again.

Steve, I have close to 1600 hours on my TC45D and I can assure you that my hydro "stays together" with 45 hp. Here's something you will probably find as you go through this forum. The 45 hp tractor has the same hydro as the 35 hp tractor. It also has the same internal 5000 psi relief valve. Therefore, the hydro will never be overpressured by 45 hp anymore than it would by 35 hp. At times you may "cuss" not having more oomph, but I think you will find your tractor very satisfactory overall. You have the benefit of plenty of hp to the PTO and superior lift on the 3PH due to 2500 psi hydraulics. You didn't mention a loader, so I'm guessing it does not have a FEL.

The original TC45 and TC45D tractors did not have the option of a mid-PTO. Only the TC35/35D and TC40/40D could have a mid-PTO. When NH came out with the newer models around 2004, they made the mid PTO an option on the TC45DA also. The TC45DA weighs about 3500 lb. With a mid-mount mower, that's probably close to 4000 lb. Some would say that a tractor the size and weight of the TC45DA would be a "beast" to turn and handle. However, if you are doing mowing that is more along the lines of golf course fairways instead of pristine sodded lawn, then you will probably be okay. It would not be pretty what the TC45DA would do to a sodded lawn.

jim, I have them putting on a rhino FEL with the QA as i have a cat skidloader with a bunch of attachments. is the rhino a good quality? it cost installed with the bucket and new holland controls so the dp works for 5k. also got a 7ft back blade woods for 550. good,bad,ugly?? I'm sure i will love the power moving up from the 25hp unit. thanks for everyones help

Steve, I think $5k is a good price for a loader added to a tractor. I'm not familiar with the Rhino, but I have nothing negative about them. Also, $550 for a well-made rear blade is a good price. It sounds like you are building a nice workhorse.
