I have a 425 John Deere tractor which I'm needing to move. The engine is being worked on right now so it isn't running. Is there any way to move this tractor?

There is a lever inside the right rear wheel against the frame that lifts up to disengage the transmission. Then you can push it.

One should check the owners manual once in a while. Alot of useful information including moving the tractor without starting the engine. I'm as guilty as the rest until there is a problem. Good luck.

How is this reply helpful in anyway? Maybe he doesn't have a manual for it.

JD has excellent resources on their website. If the OP doesn't have a manual he can find it on John Deere Home Page Redirect . The LT/GT owners & parts manuals are available under the "Residential Equipment" tab, then go to "Services & Support." Owners manuals are found at the top under "Technical Publications." This resource can be a lot of help if you've lost your manual or bought a used machine without an owners manual.

I didn't get an owner's manual with the tractor. I bought it used, but thanks to those who did help. The little bar behind the right rear wheel was well hidden, but worked and I finally got to move the tractor to where I could clean the engine compartment while engine is out.
The reason I asked in the first place was because someone told me you couldn't move the 425 or you'd damage the trans. I thought as expensive as these things are they should have made a way to pull them. I'm glad I asked.
