Pushing back snowbanks with CK20

I finally got a day off to play on my tractor pushing back the massive snow banks that I have been making with the plow truck. This is one thing I miss about snowblowing, no banks! But at least this way gives me a reason to get out and play.

It was a balmy 45 degrees F so no need for the doors or heat. With all the rain and freezing weather, the snowbanks were solid ice, so I had to break them up with the loader before snowblowing it into the woods. Good thing I don't have a front mounted blower...

Here are some pictures of a bank I decided to push up to make a sledding hill for the little guy.

Looking good Derek! The snow banks are stubborn this year about going down.... almost as stubborn as the bumper crop of frost heaves in the roads around NH. My bank is getting too high where it joins the road to see over, or to blow snow over..... wish I had my tractor to cut it down to size!

Fine looking work with that CK20, Derek. How do you manage to keep that chute crank handle out of your glass on back of the cab. My blower is a Meteor and I have already speared the Slo moving vehicle placard with the handle.

Our snow banks at the road shoulder are probably solid enough for that but I would not try it on a snowdrift quite yet. Even though they are wind packed enough I can see my self starting up and having my snow hill come apart beneath me. LOL, it would take a spring thaw to release me.

The FEL and rear blower seem to work real good for me also.

I haven't modified the handle at all and that was set as high as it goes. I wonder if JRW (the manufacturer) designed just for that reason. The slow moving sign sits outside of the cab so it is a good 5-6" closer to the blower than the glass window. Without the cab, I would want the longer handle so you could probably adjust the chute without getting off the tractor. Sounds like you need to be careful though with the longer handle.

Oh yeah! If it wasn't for the 40 degree F weather, I would have had both doors on and the heat cranked. Altough even when below 0 F I can only crank the heat for 10-20 minutes before it gets too hot in there I turn it down to low.. In the picture below, it was about -5 degrees F and about 70 F inside the cab.

I can't say I have. I think the fit of the cab leaves enough air space so that it is not exactly air-tight and still breathes. I have on occasion had water forming on the outside and inside of the glass windows with the doors off which is a pain in the butt. I just keep a small towel in the cab and wipe them dry before working. I have also never left the tractor out in the weather, it was either in the old tarp carport or the new metal carport. It spoils me so I must spoil it.
