How are Union guys harder on equipment than nonunion guys?

Simple. just like the unionized autoworkers, many of them have no pride in what they do and the union protects them. They are there just for a paycheck and benefits. I see that all the time here, 5 guys standing around BS'ing supposed to be patching potholes but doing nothing but running the clock, taking extra long lunches and basically doing nothing but getting paid for it, or they have the seasonal help who are not union, do the grunt work while they do nothing.

I've never seen a road gang member check the oil or bump a tire on any piece of equipment, ever. It breaks, they call the garage, have it picked up and a replacement delivered.

There's got to be something is missing from this story......
I cant believe such dealer behavior exists out there.

You all know how much I like to take the opposing side, so here it is. A very believable timeline--

Sales Manager: Hey everybody, that Case 75C is coming off lease in a few weeks. Maybe we can have a buyer lined up for the end of the lease.
Salesperson: Hey Boss! @ego260 replied to our ad and this is the exact tractor he wants.
Sales Manager: Great! Offer him a deep discount if he can wait on delivery until the end of the lease.

Nobody has to have bad intent. It might be that they advertised the tractor thinking by the time a buyer came around, the lease would be over.

think it will work out. When you take possession look it over carefully and have the dealer service it and repair any damage you find.
I bought a rental and the dealer agreed to 2 new tires, swap a better seat from a similar machine, and all fluids changed. It still looked like a rental and they refused to fix a couple of cosmetic things but I ran that machine for 14 yrs without so much as oil changes and a cylinder rebuild here or there.
This can work out.

Sometimes that is what you have to do. I hope it works out for you. Depending on the dealer, this may be a non-issue and will work out fine for the OP.

That was my hope as well.

They made it right by swapping R4s to R1s and also paying $15/hr for every hour that exceeds 210 hours and giving me a guaranteed delivery date.

And there it is!

When people like @ego260 are open and honest (and looking at his posts I believe he is) and a dealer is willing to make things right, then things can work out.

I worked union construction in Minnesota, if you did nothing but stand around you didn't have a job, nobody protected us.

Part of the standing around is certain guys or certain unions do certain work on jobs

Sort of had the same scenario last year with my new round bailer. Signed the papers on it and did the purchase agreement but my dealer had none to show or take to the fair and asked me if he could keep it for a few months but I had the NH round bailer in the barn that I was trading in so it wasn't a big deal for me. In he end, he gave me more than what I thought the bailer was worth and I was extremely happy about the whole transaction but remember, I've been dealing with him for decades, know him personally and he's a 100% straight shooter, besides I work for him part time as well.

Interestingly, the NH went straight to a new owner, didn't even hit his lot. That bailer was a constant PITA too. Glad someone else has it's issues, not me. The new Kubota BV round bailer I bought runs flawlessly and while it's 100% electronic (which I don't really like), it hasn't failed me one time.

Starting on the date of the purchase, I'd be wanting the per day rental amount since it was now my tractor.

It worked out in my favor. It’s a 2023 tractor with a full warranty. I don’t need the tractor until November 1st when I come back to my Wisconsin farms from Louisiana. I’m getting new R1s, and a rental fee for every hour that exceeds 210hrs. This is in writing from the head sales manager of the company. It’s an isolated incident to one store location that has poor customer service. I’m hoping this event leads to that one stores policies being dealt with.
