Good Day from Ontario, Canada.

My wife and I are in the process of pricing NH TCs for our 13 acre hobby farm. We have 2 horses, 3 acres of paddock, 3 acres of lawn and about 8 acres of wood in the back.

We are looking for the tractor that can help us do the following tasks:

-Harrow the paddock, till if necessary, mow the lawn (not a golf course), clear some snow, carry 800-1000lbs round bales, move manure, clear a trail in the woods, and excavate and build an outdoor riding arena (and maintain).

So far we have looked at the TC 18 to 29D series and just recently at the TC 30. The following implements are being considered:

-FEL (7308 or FarmKing equivalent), Allied rear discharge finishing mower, 3pt 8ft harrow, and either a bucket bale spear or a 3pt bale spear.

Price quoted thus far from my dealer less implements (sorry in Canadian Dollars):

TC 30 19250.00
TC 29D unknown
Used TC 35D with 150hrs and FEL 27450.00

A new FEL will cost 6000.00 for the the 7308 or 4800.00 for the Farm King but can lift 1600lbs.

We are quite the novice pair, but have learned a great deal from your posts and are definetely stuck on Blue!

Help!

I did some math to help out the pricing.

The TC 35 works out to 17019.00 US $
The TC 30 works out to 11500.00 US $ plus loader etc.

This is a pretty hard choice since the TC35 would be great for handling those round bales, but the TC30 would be the best for finish mowing. I guess I would see if I could use a rear spear on the TC30 and if I could handle the bales, I'd go with it. I think either tractor will handle the rest of your chores and the TC30 will surely fit into smaller places. If you aren't too critical about the area you want to finish mow, the TC35 with the extra power of that 16LA FEL would be my choice. Good luck!

Thanks Jinman,

Lot's to think about, I have been reading that the TC 30 controls are not as well laid out and user friendly as the TC 29 or TC 35 in the Boomer series. Any advice on this issue?

I'm not sure about the operator's stations on anything but the Class III Boomers (TC35D/40D/45D) since that is what I own. I love the layout of my tractor since I have no clutch pedal to deal with, and I have the HST pedals on the right with the brake pedals on the left. In my opinion, that is the best layout of any compact tractor, blue, red, green, or orange. On non-HST Boomers, the story is different. Are we talking about the "D" models with HST transmission?

The TC 29D and TC30 are both hydrostatic, but the dealer had yet to receive the TC 35 on the yard and did not know if it was HST or not.

Does anyone know how the TC 30 HST and TC29D compare?

Hi again,

Went to another dealer today. Walked away with two, what I think are pretty good quotes on my two finalists:

TC33D with 7308 loader and HD 60" bucket: 15787.79 (before tax)
add
60" 3pt sideshift blade
60" 3pt rear discharge finishing mower
8' 3pt harrow

Grand total with tax: 19477.98

TC 35D with 16LA(with 72" HD bucket) 17423.58(before tax)
add
72" rear finishing mower
72" rear blade
8' 3pt Harrow

Grand total with tax: 21117.93

With less than 2000.00 between the two we are having a hard time deciding. Do these prices seem right? The dealer has the TC 33D in stock (could I deal down more for it?)

Thanks again.

It appears you have about ~$4k in implements you could buy separately for about $2-2.5K... and that's buying top notch stuff... /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Prices look pretty good to me. When I bought my TC35, I decided the price difference between the 33 and 35 was well worth it. Your talking not only about hp difference but really a whole other class of tractor. The FEL capacity difference alone is worth a considerable amount of money, not to mention the extra weight which coorelates to extra useful working power. Plus the ability to use the larger implements means less time to get work done and less hours on your tractor. I think going larger is a win/win, unless you have restraints like storage or hard to get into places. Just my .02, besides bigger is always better, right! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I agree with John on the implements pricing, it looks like the dealer is giving a rock bottom price on the tractor and making his profit on the implements.
