Hi guys,
I had a hydraulic line for the power steering blow. To replace this you have to pull the black plastic cowling nd instrument cluster to access the power steering box.

I'l having a hard time pulling the steering wheel. not much steel in the base of it for the wheel puller to grab onto. Has anyone done this job before?

If so I'd love to benefit from your experience.

Regards,
Chris

Thanks Pacer.... Too bad I didn't get your post until after I came back from Harbor Freight... I can run back tomorrow and pick that up....

This is one of those jobs it takes you 5 hours to get access to spend 5 minutes changing a part....

Regards,
Chris

This is not an easy job when they are stuck

Penetrating oil and prelod the steering wheel with a puller, Tap the shaft if possible or if not he wheel.

Come back an hour later and repeat, and repeat.

Hopefully it will pop off at some point.

Thanks Mike,
I picked up the puller that Pacer recommended.... the wheel was off in 5 minute.... It had PB Blaster soaking on it for a few days... The clamshell puller was the way to go...

It's a PITA to get the cowling off. My tractor has a mechanical tach so you have to unhook the cable to get the cowling and instrument cluster to move...
Once I got it moved aside enough, I was able to change the hydraulic line in 15 minutes....

So 3 or 4 hours to take apart, 15 minutes to change the line and 30 minutes to put it all back together....

Thanks for the help everyone....

Regards,
Chris
