First off I want to express my gratitude for all those that chimed in on my other thread about wanting "honest answers on tow vehicles". I got a 2006 GMC with 87,000 miles and picked up a warranty for 3yrs-36,000 miles that is pretty comprehensive. The truck itself was 28,500, with KBB retail slightly over 30K. I got the warranty for 2,000 so it was 33K out the door . Over $2100 in sales tax, good grief!

It does have the LLY engine, but it is the late model LLY with the LBZ upgrades to it. Car fax shows nothing other than normal service work done on it so it has not had any overheating issues, nor any accidents, at least as far as CarFax knows.

It's a very clean, white, crew cab with 6.5ft bed and 4x4. I also have the tcase issue in the back of my head, another reason for the warranty. The truck has a B&W goose neck hitch already installed with the in-the-bed 7 pin connector. I need to add my 5th wheel hitch. It also has a locking hard tonneau cover.

Are you saying you paid 30K for an 8 yr old vehicle??

B&W make a 5th wheel adapter that fits right into the flip over. Good piece but if it were me I would convert my trailer to a GN. Much cheaper, cleaner, and simpler.

Hope your LLY is a good one. My 05 was a nightmare.

I don't think he over paid for it, that's what they go for in my area. That is also considered one of the better years for a D-max.

I'll be a little more positive than some of the other posts and say good luck with the truck and I have a co worker with one and its a very nice truck. How about some photos?

Welcome to the brave new world of the prices of used HD trucks. This is par for the course.

...and it's exactly why I bought a '99 F250 V10 with 218K miles on it for cashola vs. trading my 1/2T for a used HD.

Sounds like you found a nice truck, OP! Good luck with it!

Handrifle had a pretty good previous posts asking a lot of questions from this forum. I have the feeling he did a lot of research and put a lot of thought into this. He bought a truck he is probably proud of and likes, and I just hated to see the first three posts come off as being negative. I expected it from DP since he didn't buy a Ford with a 6.0, but then Handrifle didn't want to pull the cab off his truck in the next few months. And yes DP we know you and 82 different people you know have 6.0's and they have all been great trucks.

My co worker paid almost the exact same amount for his D-Max recently, so I guess I didn't have any sticker shock.

Diesel pickups before 2007 and the DPF are in demand and bring high prices. Good luck with your truck.

handirifle: the best info on this would be "Merchant Automotive" they know about that tcase issue. At that low of millage I would think it's not an issue yet. The problem is with the oil pump cover, and too some degree the clutch pack. Google them for more info. mike
