Yes injector cleaner, have already replaced air and fuel filter first thing, will run it a bit longer and see if injector cleaner does anything before tearing into the injectors, I do however feel that it is a injector that one may have gotten some trash in it, from the looks of the old filter it would be a good assumption.
I do hope the cleaner works though.
Has anyone torn into the injectors? I have done automotive injectors and the one on the tractor look simpler than them. Any tricks or things to watch for?

If you think the old fuel filter was passing debris through to the injectors then remove them all and have them pop tested at a competent diesel shop and replace any that fail. Do this after you have given the injector cleaner adequate time to work. At that point you should be good to go with no further black smoke, UNLESS the amount of debris bypassing your filter damaged the IP. Wait and see, step by step.

Yeah, not in any hurry to pull the injectors, will run a couple of tanks through with cleaner in them before I go taking out injectors and such, unless it starts running terribly bad, which it has not as of yet.
Did some research on injector testing, quite a lot of difference than the gas counterparts.
