I have a dk45se that has a pto switch on the console. It engages but will not shut off. Only way to shut it off is to shut down the engine. Any ideas? Thanks
If you shut down the engine and restart it, does the PTO stay off?
Looking at the schematic, I think the actual PTO switch is a likely cause but there is also a "twin relay" that could be the problem. I recommend mush diagnosis and little parts swapping. In your case, try pulling the connector from the PTO switch and see if that stops the PTO. If so, the switch is bad.
Yes, once the engine shuts down the pto will not come back on when the engine restarts. I thought maybe a solenoid isn't releasing. It will be tomorrow before I can do any troubleshooting but I appreciate any and all suggestions.
My DK 35 has a similar problem, but in the winter only. Once machine warms up, it works as it is supposed to. Please let us know what you discover is the problem and the solution. Thanks
In addition to pulling the connector on the actual pto switch, try pulling the connector on the solenoid. If the pto continues to run with that connector pulled the problem isn't electrical.
Another question: When you try to turn the PTO off via the switch, does the PTO light in the dash go out? If so, the switch is not the problem and your problem may be a sticking solenoid or a sticking spool in the actual hydraulic valve.
Great tip about the pto light. The light stayed on so I bypassed the switch with a jumper and light went out and pto stopped. Brilliant idea! Dealer has a replacement switch and I will pick it up tomorrow. You saved me a lot of time and trial and error. Thank you.
