New Holland T1530 Ford 1910
I have a New Holland T1359 with a 12x12 manual transmission and a single stage clutch. Currently the clutch has no effect on engaging or disengaging the PTO. To run the PTO, I am forced to bring the rpms down and the engage the PTO... not the proper thing to do. Has anyone encountered this problem and have a suggestion as to a fix?
Thanks for any help/suggestions

You should always bring the RPMs down to engage the PTO anyway. So it does engage, right? You just force it, is that it?

Sorry, the tractor is a T1350...
Yes, I force the PTO into gear, although "force" is an exaggeration, the PTO drops in fairly easy, but it is an abrupt start up on the drive train and the attachment

on my Kubota….mine wouldn’t disengage. The PTO would spin down when I turned the tractor off.
I had to lube the joint/lever that goes into the trans for the PTO lever.

Likely needs a clutch adjustment.

Engaging the PTO at anything above idle is a good way to break stuff, kind of like revving up a car engine and dropping the clutch!

I see nothing on a T1350. I suspect it's actually a T1530. The gear drive version with independent PTO is not controlled with the clutch pedal. It drives from the flywheel so that follows with your first post.

It also appears to be controlled with a manual valve connected to a lever. Not a solenoid valve as many tractors are. The valve spool is most likely detented, and depending on how stiffly that operates, you might try practicing engaging the PTO more slowly. That may or may not be possible, again depending on how it's made, but worth a try.

If this is indeed what you have, and you can't make it work any better that way, I have some other ideas if you're interested in little creative plumbing.
