I was hoping someone could shed some light on what is the differences in to different type of PTOs that Mahindra offers.

I've seen

CRPTO (Constant running PTO)
Live
Transmission with internal over-running clutch

There may some more kinds but I didn't see any others.

Can some explain the differences?

Thanks,

Scott

Very simple.

A constant running PTO or live PTO is the best. It allows you to stop the tractor without stopping what ever you have attached to the PTO.

A PTO if not constant running will both stop the tractor and implement when you stop the tractor. Also the inertisa from the implement, such as a bush hog, will push your tractor because it works directly off the transmission. A internal over run clutch allows the implement you have attached to the PTO to still turn while it is stopping but not push the tractor.

This is a very simple explaniation but I hope it helps.

If you can afford it buy a tractor with a constant running PTO.

Actually, an independant PTO (has its own clutch in addition to the trans clutch) is the best rather than some PTO that runs constantly (if that's what it means---ie. I guess that type actually turns the implement as you are starting the tractor). Independant can be started or stopped by itself and is not transmission dependant. Most all of the larger utility tractors have this type PTO. BobG in VA
