I have a 5' rough cutter with shear bolt type PTO safety. I'm getting tired of replacing bolts and see that there are add-on slip clutch adapters available. Would this be the best route to go or would it be better to just buy a slipper clutch PTO shaft? Any recommended products?

For those that ask the obvious question: "why are you hitting stuff to shear the bolt", I say to you: I don't know why. The area that I cut has some small hills and dips and it seems just scalping the ground will shear off a bolt. Dealer recommended replacing the grade 3 bolt with a grade 5 (but specifically said no grade 8), but I'm a little hesitant. Maybe that is common practice and something I should follow?

Thanks!

When I bought a tractor years ago one of those add on slip clutches came with it so I have used it with other tractors. The only problem there isn't any info on it for H.P. rating that I can see . I have never sheared a bolt on my bush hog so it must be working .
