how common is it to have to cut a pto shaft, just bought a new one for a mahindra 2216 and cant get the bush hog to raise up. think the shaft is too long.

All pto shafts must be cut to length for every tractor and implement.

Common enough. I've personally lucked out, as both of my PTO shafts have somehow managed to be just the right size when they came with my equipment, but with the different geometries on all the different tractors, it's impossible to make one size that fits everything. There have been many people who have had to cut their shafts to fit.
