I got a Jinma chipper and am setting it up, of course the PTO saft that came with it is too short, so I went to TSC to get a longer one, I saw one with a slip clutch and thought it was a good idea? So I bought it! But I need to trim it a little and thought I would make sure it was a good idea, before I cut it?

So what do you think?

Bob,

When i first hooked up my Jinma to my NH TC40DA I thought I might have a similar problem that you had.

The two adjustable bars that hold the lower 3ph pins on the chipper would hit a bolt head when trying to push the bars back far enough for the PTO shafts to have enough overlap. I should've taken the bars off and placed several extra washers at each of the bolts to act as spacers to clear the offending bolt head, but because I was in a hurry I just pried the bar back a little to clear the bolt head and pushed the adjustable mounting bars fully back.

Fixed the PTO shaft distance problem. :D

You may have already tried this and still needed the extra distance, but if not then you may have yourself an extra slip clutch available for other uses.

MadDogDriver, I think that will/ should work with no problems.

I had a customer cut the plates about a 1/2 inch from the slot so he could hook up to a Kubota, don't remember the model??

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies! I have been busy and only saw the first post when I made my decision. Here is what I did. I have pats' easy change which moves everything out 3.5 inches, moving the pins on the chipper was not enough. TSC is over an hour away so I didn't want to change the shaft and had chipping to do. So I trimmed the new shaft and trimmed the guard on the chipper to fit, took about 20 min, it might be over kill but maybe some day I will be glad I did it, I couldn't see driving over one hour each way to save $35.00. and loose half a day of work.

As far as the chipper, it is a chipping machine! well worth the money! perhaps the feed roller drive is not as stout as it could be, but a replacement is about $20, and it will last a very long time! If I was using it 24/7 a vermier woud be better, but at a much higher cost! I did do the set screws on the drive rollers and changed the zerks. One was broken off.

Great value!
