How many of you can still find the plastic cap that goes over the PTO shaft? My new TC25D was delivered without one and I was wondering if it's worth calling the dealer and asking for one.

I still have mine and diligently cover the PTO shaft whenever something is not connected to it (which is most of the time). In my opinion, you should call the dealer, get the cap, and use it to protect your investment.

Hmmm, so Vermonster uses his all the time; probably a good idea. I remember which shelf I put mine on when the tractor was delivered, but it's never been on the tractor./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

I keep mine on all the time - or it's in the toolbox when I'm using the pto.

I don't get it.../w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

What purpose does the cover serve?...

Reminds me of a guy down the road with the 24' boat... got a cover for his hitch ball... didn't want the "ball to weather"... then decided didn't want to "stress" his truck when pulling the 24' boat...

The boat has stayed parked along side his house for the last 5 or 6 years... never ever been moved...

But, I imagine his hitch ball is still covered with that cap... /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Had to look in my parts manual to see what you're talking about. Bought my L2500 used from a dealer and there was no PTO cap. I'd say he owes me a free one, eh? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I have taken the cap off several times and thought I had lost it - I wish there was a better way to store the cap when the PTO is in use. The problem I have is when the rops are folded down the tool box doesn't open wide enough for the cap - how about a tether?

Yeah, Harv, you got short changed./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif You know my tractor has a mid-PTO that's never been used, and is not likely to ever be used, so I thought I might put that cap on it, but I could never figure a way to put it on that PTO, and other than this forum, I've never known of anyone putting a cap or cover on a PTO shaft./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I've never taken mine off; maybe I should to see if I really have a PTO under it!
