Hello I have a front mount snow blower for my 2660 that I will be using for the first time this year (hopefully soon cause I am getting anxious) and am looking at getting a 3 point spreader to lay road salt as well I know the tractor has the options to run either just the mid pto or just the rear pto or both pto's at the same time and I figured while blowing snow I could run both pto's and lay salt too (kill two birds with one stone) but my concern is when I hit a spot that requires me to slow down and take small bites out of it. Can I just automatically switch to just the mid pto without stopping then back to both as needed or do I have to shut both down then select the mid pto?
Thanks in advance.

you will have to shut the pto off and let the equipment stop before shifting the selector.

That's what I thought but was hoping it wasn't true. The manual says to throttle down to start and stop the pto, would all that bouncing up and down of the throttle harm anything?

you will probably find it very unsatisfying to blow with the front and rear pro on at the same time. It really cuts the power imo. although maybe its not so much with those two implements I don't know how much power the spreader takes. That said it would probably be faster just to blow first then switch it and salt after

Depending on how much snow you have, I would guess you'd be putting out way more sand/salt than you wanted to. But what do I know? I have neither piece of gear.

You cannot shift which pto you want to us on the fly. also I dont think you gonna want to use a 3 pt spreader in a 5 ft wide path. The you most likely will waste alot of salt/sand that way due to varying wetness/packing of snow trying to blow snow same time. Undoubtedly it can do it with power to spare, but think about how far the 3 pt spreader can fling the stuff? What is a extra trip with the bota ?

Thanks guys, I thought it would be a time saver, but you guys make some valid points, I will use one then the other.
