Does anyone have a small PTO sand spreader for their tractor? Does it work well for you? Any idea where I can buy one that won't cost an arm and a leg?

I just bought a 5 y.o. used Vicon #330 from a guy who used it to spread sand and calicum on sidewalks. The shaker at the bottom of the hopper shows rust but can be cleaned up as can any other rust spots. The Vicon has a good rep as being top of the line. I paid $600 for it, new they are $2K, he just wanted to get rid of it. Havn't had a chance to use it yet but another TBN member is going to spread fertilizer with it in the spring. I'll post after he tries it out. This is the first one of these I have seen in years for sale used so they don't turn over frequently /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Perhaps in more farm country they would be more available. It's one of those attachments that I would not buy new but if a good used one came along /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Anyone have an idea of the life expectancy of the metal spreaders? I'm worried about the corrosion from the sand / salt mix laying in there all winter, but I could replace this PTO spreader 4 times for what a tailgate spreader costs for my truck....

agri supply sells a pto spreader made by cosmo this year they came out with poly hopper and stainless stell spinner , there price is 329 95 model # is 48701 , it should spread salt and dry sand but I would call and ask ,# is 1800 345- 0169 hope this helps ,ps has poly hopper not many do
