pto rattle

2001 tc40a delvloped a rattle @ 800 hr it sounds like a rattle howl sound.
still works fine w/ no excess heat generation
had @ dealer they say it is fine and is normal
this is my brothers tractor

Is this from an implement pto shaft.. or the pto stub on the tractor?

if the tractor stub, I'd turn tractor off and after pto is stopped.. check it for any sid-side / up/down play.

post back with more details.

No it sounds like it is in the case, under where my feet would be, right in the middle of my tractor. i will check side to side, but it does sound like it is in the case

Please give us a little more information regarding the situation:

1. Was the PTO attached to an implement or under no load?
2. Does it occur as soon as the PTO is engaged or after it is warm?
3. Does the PTO brake work normally (the PTO will stop within a few seconds of disengagement)?
4. Do you and your brother "feather" the PTO when engaging the lever, or do you pretty much just engage it with one quick motion?
5. Does the tractor have a mid-PTO?

See, you just thought you'd ask one simple question and get an answer. Now you have to answer a bunch more questions.
