PTO On/Off Lever

After reading about 100 threads about the stop solenoid (which I think mine is bad) I just have one question. Is there a seperate safety on the PTO lever, or does it work the stop solenoid? The reason I ask is the only way I can start my BX25 is to pull up on the PTO lever and turn the key. I've already got the stop solenoid unplugged, but it did this before then even. Sorry to be so long winded...any help would be great, just don't want to buy a stop solenoid if it's something else...Thanks again for a great site...Mike

The Stop solenoid will pulse once and shut off an engine when 12 volts is removed at the key switch.

The safety interlock on the PTO is to prevent the starter from cranking the engine with the PTO engaged... (it's a N/C SPST switch in series with the start wiring, and it Is adjustable to some degree).

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm guessing it's something to do with the switch on the PTO lever. Now I've got an avenue to look at...I'll keep you posted...Mike

Mike, you prob. just need to adjust the PTO switch a tad... on my BX24 it was almost as touchy as your tractor. The switch bracket has elongated mounting holes, just loosen the 2 screws, slide the switch just a bit, and tighten. Easier with the left rear wheel off.

Sometimes when I'm get off I sometimes brush against mine ,all it takes is a very light touch it'll shut off if running, or I have to pull up to start. I have a bx24.
