2006 Kubota L3400
I have my L3400 (SN 65xxx) in for service and told the dealer to look at my PTO cable because it wasn't disengaging the PTO properly. It was like the cable was bending inside the boot and I would have to fiddle with it to get it to release the PTO. When I called a few minutes ago to check on it he informed me there was a recall on that cable and it somehow "slipped" through there books when they assembled the tractor (last July). I don't have any other details about the recall/SB# but if any of you are experiencing this problem, please call your dealer to have it fixed. I don't want to open another can of worms, but another PTO issue with the L3400 is not going to make good press.

Cheers,
bigballer

This is a service advisory bulletin, NOT A ReCALL. PSB-2007-027
A very few tractors (NOT ALL) in the serial number range have had a problem with the cable breaking. The new kit has a bracket that re-aligns the cable to prevent kinking and breaking.
Kubota will only replace the cable/bracket IF the tractor is under warranty and only if the cable actually breaks.

Thanks Gladiator for clarifying, you are correcet, it's an SB not a recall.

On my tractor, moisture around the o-ring where the cable enters the transmission case caused some rusting which was hanging up the cable. I talked to the Service Manager and he said exactly what you did, Kubota only fixes if the cable is broken but he said that was just dumb. It obviously wasn't working correctly and he would rather prevent any future issues so he replaced the cable and the lever mount to decrease the angle. He also recommended doing the fix that Kubota has out for the PTO noise which is to replace the looking-glass (between the feet) with a slightly higher plate and dipstick. He said that Kubota won't let him do this stuff on new tractors but if someone complains or as soon as one comes in for service he will make the recommendation to the customer.

cheers,

My cable did this last year (kinked then would not disengage) but they only replaced the cable no brackets. I watched the mechanic fix it. Where can we get the service bulletins. I would like to have this fixed correctly. The current cable setup looks poorly engineered.

Geez. These pto problems are getting kind of old. Right now mine works great. The cable does seem kind of cheesey though. I thought after the fluid level increase and the pto cams I was set becuase it works so nice. Guess we will see. Brian

Is this a hydro tranny problem or are gear tranny's also included. What is the serial number range for these problems?

Thanks,

Goog:

Once the CAMs are replaced, is there any need for the HST oil level increase? I thought the whole point of the oil level increase was just to quiet own the racheting noise of the over running clutch - which you don't have any more.
