PTO issue, 3510

I need some help with the PTO please.
I read a few places that the solenoid can be an issue. Are the attached pics the PTO solenoid? If so can you guys tell me what to do to trouble shoot it or repair it?
The previous owner said he could jump some wires at the solenoid and it would run, you just couldn't turn it on or off without connecting and disconnecting the jumper wire he used at the solenoid.

If the solenoid works by jumping wires it's not the solenoid that's bad. You've got the push button switch on the steering column, dash mode switch and safety switches all in control of the electric that turns the solenoid on. I'd start following the trail with either a vom or 12v test light.
