Hello guys, I have a 1972 Ford 2000 tractor, and when i engage the PTO, it will spin just fine. But when I attach my bush hog to it, and then try to engage the PTO, it will grind badly and will not engage. The drive shaft to the mower will turn very slowly while it grinds, but it still doesn't engage. Does anyone have a solution to this puzzling problem?
Also, the light on the dashboard that tells me if the battery is being charged, stays on. I just replaced the battery after replacing the old one that had been sitting in the tractor for 5 years without much use, so i don't want to run it down. It is a 12volt diesel if that helps anything. I hooked a multi-meter to the battery before i started the engine, and while the engine was running, and i don't think there was a difference.
I guess i just answered my own question, but how would i go about fixing the generator? or would i just need to replace it?
Thanks all help is GREATLY appreciated.
