I was wondering if anyone has built a log splitter where the pump is driven from the PTO. I know I will need a pump, valve, cylinder holding tank for fluid hoses etc. Just wondering if anyone has made one that may have some pictures of the process. Also, through the untire process did you do the math to see if it was cheaper to buy a rear mounted unit which runs off of the tractors hydrulics and then modify it for the pump, tank etc? May not be as self satisfying but, may be cheaper then buying individual components too.
