John Deere 797
I have a 2007 JD 797 zero turn with about 360 hrs. When I engage the PTO, there is a loud what sounds like metal on metal noise coming from the rear of the mower. The blades are slow to get to speed and they are easily slowed with cutting grass. I'm guessing a bearing is going out. Any suggestions? Is this easy to change out or do I need to take to a dealer and have them fix it. Any help is appreciated.

if youre feeling froggy, you can remove the drive belt and turn all the pullies by hand to see if you can find the one thats biting. Theres no simple way to identify which one. make sure your blades arent touching the edge of the deck. some replacement blades have a hole dia larger than that of the bolt that holds them on. If one of the bearings is shot, the pulley will be super hot to the touch, so be cautious when you muckle onto it with your bare hand... dont ask me how I know this.

Thanks for the help. Looked closer at the pulleys and found a broke spring on one of the tension pulleys. Replaced and I'm back in business. Thanks again.
