Pto clutch on gt1554

A few days ago I replaced my drive belt on my cub cadet gt1554. This required the removal of the pto clutch. When reassembling I did not have a torque wrench to accurately torque the bolt on the pto clutch. Everything worked fine for a few days and then all of the sudden I begin blowing 20 amp fuses when I engage the pto. My question is, did I burn up the pto clutch by potentially over torquing the bolt? What else could be causing the fuse to blow when engaging the pto switch? Looking for another, less expensive, solution than replacing the pto clutch. Any help would be appreciated.
