Hello; My name is Dennis and I live in the NW corner of Nebraska. I just bought a Land Pride FD 2560 finish mower for my Kubota B7510. I'm just about done cleaning the mower up and greasing everything as this deck had set a long time.
I need to get the boots off the PTO so I can grease the u-joints and turn the grease fitting so I can grease them without having to take the boots off again.I believe by the Land Pride on line Parts look up that the PTO is a Eurocardan Drive line 826-064c. I see the lock and unlock tab has a place to get a screw driver in there and turn it so the boot will turn and this I have done. I just don't know what to do after that. The boot will turn only so far and will not line up with the indented places for the white tabs. When you get to this point do the white tabs ( all at same time I assume ) need to be pushed straight down, or pushed back toward the center of the drive line or pushed back to the u-joint end and then turn the boot so it lines up with the indented places? Or is there some other thing I need to do to get them off? I would appreciate any help with this!!! Thaks Dennis

I presume your talking about the cones at each end of the pto shaft guard?
While yours may be different, on the pto guards on several of my attachments, i turn the screwdriver lock tab to the unlock position, and then i need to physically remove them (just pop them out with the screwdriver blade) to slide the cone down the pto shaft guard. Then to reassemble, line the holes up, reinsert the lock pin and give it a quarter turn with a screwdriver.
Note though, as i said, you may have a different method of locking the protective cones to the shaft guard.

Charlie; Yes those are the boots ( shields ) I'm talking about. Do you mean you just pull or pop the white tabs completely out of the boot then side the boot back on the shaft? If that is what you meant I would never have thought of pulling them out. Oh well I'm a first time owner and I have to learn sooner or latter. Let me know if what I read and my thinking is correct an I will give it a try. Thanks Dennis

A close picture of your setup would be good. There are some variations from time to time on those. They can drive you nuts. Ken Sweet

If what you discribe is what i've got in mind, then yes remove them completely as i discribed.
As Ken mentions there are variations and a photo or two would be very helpful.

Mine is a bit different than some I think (eurocardan). The rectangular white nylon tabs you see are part of the antirotation bushing, and can't be pulled outwards. What I do is with a screwdriver pry the boot end of the slot up over the top of the tabs while holding pressure on the boot toward the driveshaft tube. Once the last one is up the boot will slide back fairly easily. There is only one way to put it together, the antirotation grease nipple/slot on the boot lines up with a small tab on the white antirotation/retaining ring. Be sure you have that right when it goes back together.

I thought I might break mine the first time I took it apart, but they're pretty tough. The key is to keep pressure on the boot in the direction you want it to go (toward the sleeve). Once the second tab is out of the way the third one is easier.

A picture is worth a thousand words with this stuff, I hope it makes sense.

When I need to remove mine I pull the shield away from the gear box while
pressing the white tab in. You will see the shield move down the tube.
Continue to keep pressure on the shield then press the second and third.

i can take my shaft loose from tractor and get to the fitting by rotating to the right angle and sticking the hose inthere. I also have a hole that it you turn the boot it will line up so that the hose can go through it, think of a throwaway salt shaker you spin the top to either get the sifter or the pour spout.
