PT-425 Won\'t start less than 8 hours

Hey there, I'm very distraught, I purchased a power-trac 425 and was eagerly working with my new attachments and while using a grapple bucket doing some light grading, I bogged down understress and stalled is as I've done before and now it won't restart. NOTHING, no clicking,no turning over noises nothing, I checked fuses, none blown, I checked most visual wiring, nothing has seemed to come loose, Hydraulics and oil level OK. No REASONING that I can figure out for this. Is there an automatic kill switch that I don't know about. THe PTO is off. I'm stumped. It's 700 feet in my woods and no way to move it as it's wheels are locked as well. Lights work, battery seems to be ok. ANY AND ALL HELP would be greatly appreciated. Please send comments and helpfull advise. John

The 1845 has a couple of big fuses. Check the manual and see if you have one that is in the starter solenoid circuit. If you can't tell, call PT. They should be able to give you step by step tests to locate the problem.

well id say check the cables on the battery make sure they arent lose. if they are good make sure you have headlights. if you do check the cables at the starter to make sure they arent lose. this is ofcourse after you have checked the manual and all the fuses and if none of this works call terry at pwer trac , i also have a 425 and havent had any issues except the fuse for the cooler was under rated .it blew and i had to move up the fuse size , but thats another story and welcome to the family here

First of all, Welcome to TBN Power Trac Forum.

Try and move the treadle pedal slightly one way or the other. There is a safety interlock switch like on an automatic car transmission that will only let is start in what it thinks is Neutral.

If this becomes a frequent problem, the switch is adjustable.

Unless they changed something with the new design on the 425 mine doesn't have any kind of neutral safety device and none is shown on the wiring diagram. You can sart the machine with the treadle to full forward and as soon as you have hydraulic pressure you are off and running

If the smaller models do not have a safety-neutral switch, it looks like another cost cutting move by PT.

I had heard others mention this switch and my 1845 certainly has one but I do not know which models omit it. Sorry if I led anyone astray.

The original new poster who started this thread has not responded, so we do not know what the problem turned out to be.

well now im wondering what the fix was guess ill call to find out if terry had a call from the original poster to see if he had a call from him just so ill know what the answer was

Jay, If you find out, don't keep me in suspense.

In many cases the full potential value of the learning experience is not realized when the resolution of a problem is never shared.

While we all learn a lot from these shared experiences, we could learn more if the final outcome was shared more often.
