I've been wrestling over what I should get to manage a couple of wooded hilly acres I hope to build on someday. I think I've got it narrowed down to a NH TC-18 or a Power Trac 422. It's got to be versatile, small, stable on hills and cost is a consideration too. The TC-18 seems like a safe bet but the 422 is cheaper & looks like it could fit the bill. I just don't know anyone who has one who can tell me the pros or cons of owning one. Whatdaya think? I'll post this on the NH site too for fairness & balance.

Since no one else is speaking up I will. I've never seen a PT in person, just the videos post by MossRoad and others and the fact that I own a NH I might be a bit biased. Here are my negatives with the PT: 1.) No local dealer must be shipped to you & probably repaired by you 2.) Doesn't used standardize 3PH attachments - have to go back to PT to buy them 3.) Resale - could be an issue if you ever go to sell because of issues 1 & 2.

I have a TC24D and I love it as I'm sure those that have PTs do. I'm sure my Hew Holland has some negatives too, but I'm not sure what they are.......I just remembered what one is I'm at work and it is at home and I'm not on it working. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wow.. I'm surprised the resident PT 'priest' has been over hear preaching at you about how owning a pT will save your soul, and every other machine in existance ont he face of the earth will' sit unused' forever after the PT arrived.. and that the PT would simply 'make every task your perform easier'.

Ok.. fair enough.. and tounge-in-cheak-ieness aside.

What it boils down to is this: Do you need a consumer grade front end loader? Or a tractor?

If you want to be able to run down to the local farm store and buy something for it.. you may want a tractor..

Yes.. I own NH's... and I've seen the pt info.. and I may be biased /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

There has been a fair amount of discussion about this in the Power Trac forum.

It'd be like preaching to the choir and they already know the sermon! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
