Of course I check it before each use. Well .. most times.. er.. it doesn't burn any.

Didn't get a low pressure buzzer - or didn't hear it, but the oil in my Deutz is no longer Amsoil synthetic -- now its a blend.
After a routine manure trailer dump, noticed a stripe of black oil in the dusting of snow. Took little investigation to find oil all over the left side of the engine.
So, found the problem just before hands stopped working due to cold. I hope it's fixed.
For you Deutz diesel PTers, something I didn't know 'til now. The male torx bolts that hold the top baffle above the oil cooler also hold the cooler itself. The tubes from block to cooler require the top bolts to be tight to remain sealed. So, when you take the baffle off to clean the chaff out of the cooler, you have to be sure it's reinstalled tightly. When they shake theirselves out, the oil soon escapes. Mine was about 5 quarts low. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I may even have to buy a set of torx sockets instead of using a quarter drive 6 side. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Plowed for an hour. Smelled a lot like hot oil, but pressure stayed up. Didn't have the nerve to check under the hood after the job, but they say more snow's coming, so I guess I'll have to pull the dipstick.
In the spring, it will take a gallon of soap and the power washer to get the muck out of the engine compartment. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I agree about the mud caked inside and out. Went to use the hitch yesterday and it was caked in mud so that you could not see the pin. Had to use a hammer to remove.
