Hello,

Is there a special PSI gauge to use on a JD 425 tire sized 23x10.5-12? I tried using my regular pressure gauge that I use on my car and it won't read at all. Thanks.

Should be standard cap. There may be a secondary cap over the shrader valve, but just guessing right now without seeing what you have

What's the pressure range of your gauge? How much pressure are you trying to measure? Some gauges for automotive tires may not read accurately low enough for tractor tires. I've also found that sometimes it's difficult to get a good square alignment of the gauge to press it into place well - which will yield no reading. Readjust your position a bit and try again.

That would be it! Thank you. Easy fix. Do you know if these are sold at places like Walmart?

Yes, the low pressure gauges are sold all over.

If you have filled tres, you will ruin a regular pressure gauge.

I use a regular auto pressure gauge. I think I checked the pressure in my rear tires about five or six years ago. They are filled with RimGuard and run around 15 psi. How to use a "regular" gauge and not ruin it. Run the valve stem to 12 'O clock high. Blow two - two second blasts INTO the valve stem. This will clear the stem. Now use the gauge and take the pressure.

In the spring & fall I roll the tractor out onto my driveway. I check the track marks to ensure the bars make full contact all the way across the bars. If they do - then all is right. If they do not - pressure is too high and I lower the pressure until they do. 15 psi is just right for my tires on my tractor.

I still wouldn't do that with calcium.

There are gauges specifically designed for use with filled tires. They can be rinsed out and won't corrode. Ones intended for cars can be used on filled tires but it will be a one time use. With oosik's post (#7) you'll get more than one, but I still suggest you get one for filled tires. They just work so much better.

You are spot on there - 3Ts. After a couple uses - I could see the writing on the wall. Just one tiny slip up and an otherwise good auto tire gauge is ruined. I ended up getting a pencil gauge that is intended for filled tires. RimGuard may not be near as corrosive as calcium chloride but it can just as easily plug up a gauge.
