On Yanmar AF22 the 38 liters fuel tank is located down the floor. A friend of mine warned me about flying stones when cutting grass.

Who will suggest me a clever, easy and cheap way to protect it ?

I am sure most of the friends on the board have already encountered this problem.

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Make up a small frame and cover with expanded metal, or thin gauge sheet metal?

I'd think small 1/2" andle iron and thin sheet metal / expanded metal will be easy to work with and do the trick.... even a small 110v welder should handle that stuff. Then just find a few atachment points and bolt on.

We don't hav AF models here in the States, but I would try spraying a product called "Great Stuff", an expanding foam sealant, to put about 1" of foam insulation over the tank. You probably have that stuff under different brand names, available at any hardware store.

Soundguy, Norm and Thegreatrandini,

Thank you very much for these advises. I think I will use a "mix" of your three answers.

Regards,

Phil
