Propping up bucket on FEL

Great ideas guys. I was up this morning and thought of something else and I tried it. I hooked a 12' tow strap to one of the teeth on the bucket and raised it up all the way and then hooked the tow strap to a 3 point hitch attachment on the tractor, then took the key out. I was planning on hooking it to the ROP bar. It would work better with the bucket off probably, but the weight of that is not far off center of gravity for the FEL so I didn't think it would matter much.

What i was thinking is something like this.
2 Ton Capacity Underhoist Safety Stand

One or two of them under the front edge of the bucket and you would be fine. I mean they are strong enough to support a car on a lift, why wouldnt two of them be good enough for your tractor bucket.

If you had teeth on your bucket i would put it under the two out side teeth. The curve on the bracket would keep it from slipping. Now if you dont have a tooth bar, i would but it right under where the main lift arms attach to the bucket its self.

I am lucky my oliver wont leak down even if you hit the valve if the tractor is off. It will keep the loader in the air for weeks. My 806 well it leaks, i normaly use an 8inch diam post that is set in the ground to hold it in the air when i need to work on the tractor.

Is the loader on your 3720 that difficult remove and install? Just curious.

The bucket is very easy to take off but the arms takes about 15 minutes. I only took it off once. If I had a lot of work under the hood taking the arms off would be the best thing to do by far. But for a few minutes cleaning and checking things I am to lazy. :ashamed:

Get a piece of decent thickness flat plate broke such that it's a U shape that will fit over the lift cylinder ram with enough depth that it can be pinned on at both ends or weld tabs on that you can put the pins through. A large enough angle iron will also work and you only need to use one if the bucket is empty. A single one will work with an empty bucket but don't try to use just one to hold up a load in the bucket, you'll likely twist the loader frame if you do that. Also watch out that whatever you use doesn't damage the wipers on the cylinders. Methods that involve propping the bucket up from underneath are dangerous and should be avoided.

Does anyone have a better way to prop up a FEL that is on the tractor and extended totally up than with a 2x4 propped up and jammed in a certain spot. ......

Why not hang the sucker. Use a strap or chain and a beam in the garage or a tree limb, etc. .

That's another good idea, I would feel safe with it secured that way.

I'm guessing that it's a quick-detach loader and you don't have to unbolt everything?

If it is, then spend the time and take the loader off, it's hard to believe it takes that long. My Kubota takes me maybe 2 minutes, and that's if I have to scratch my head and remember how to do it.

I was considering thew same thing but made a simple trolley instead, from an offcut of heavy duty plywood and 4 strong castor wheels. Easy to move the bucket around and I can now fit the tractor/loader/ slasher in the shed.

I use a 8' lenght of 2" pipe put under one FWL. arm then lower until weight is on pipe.
Been using this method for several years .
Wood or plastic pipe bends or breaks
Really didn't think it was necessary until broke a steel line and the amount of fluid and guick drop of lift arms convinced me it could of happened while hood was raised and I would be underneth it.
The time it takes to be safe is less than trying to recover from getting in a accident.
