Would I be giving up a lot of quality by buying a 6' 2004 Puma (made by Pronovost) used lightly for $1300 or a P620 Provonost used maybe twice for $2800. Is there a lot of differences in the 2 knowing that they are made by the same company. BTW the Puma weighs 430 lbs while the Pronovost weighs 575 lbs. Any opinions??

How much snow do you normally get and how much area do you have to clear?

In reading the literature the Puma appears to be a home owner version while the P620 is a more rugged farm use version.

What does the extra $1500 buy you? Hydraulic chute controls Vs manual? Larger fan, larger intake augers, etc?

Hopefully Leonz will pipe up since he seems to know the Provonost line pretty well.

Ive had 0 problems with my PUMA .It seems to be a very well made snowblower.Solid welds and thick steel, not tack welded here and there like others ive seen.Industrial sprockets chains and gearbox.

Does it throw it far enough that you are happy with it? What distance would that be?

Many contractors here are using the Puma!
None complain as to quality or performance.

Just lube it well, use proper shear bolts and paint every spring to avoid rust.

Parts are basically 'shelf stock' from any bearing supplier, nothing special.

THE HARDER YOU FEED IT THE FURTHER IT THROWS. Id say a powdery snow
will fly 20TO 30 feet easy enough.Ihave never ever plugged it not even with wet heavy snow.consider the hydraulic chute control, its awsome.
